What’s Left of the Mackey School of Mackey Bend Road, Knox County, Kentucky????

Apparently, this early twentieth century school building was called the Mackey School.

Long since abandoned as a school, examination of the of interior suggests that at some point in the third quarter of the twentieth century this building was retrofitted as a private dwelling.  Good taste was not exercised in those renovations.

The school is located on Mackey Bend Road in a part of Knox County, Kentucky that is called Rockholds…

The Mackeys were “King of the Hill” since, in addition to Mackey School and Mackey Bend Road, there is also a Mackey Cemetery Road and a Mackey Cemetery all in the same environs…

Say goodbye to Mackey School…

Hi there would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re working with? I’m looking to start my own blog soon but I’m having a hard time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique. P.S My apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!

  2. Mackey’s are still King of the hill, and know a lot about the area. Mackey bend is in Knox county, Rockholds is in Whitley county and is only the mail address. The old Mackey Bend School is a very Interesting part of their past.
