Procurement: Old Sky Light Goes Green
We found this awesome old sky light at Community Forklift in Edmonston, Maryland, which is just across the NE District of Columbia border in the neighborhood of Rhode Island Avenue. The old thing needs a little work, but we plan to use the miniature solarium for growing plants during winter. Not to mention that it adds a whole new structural element to the back yard where it will live in harmony with our plants, lawn furniture, and the occasional flowing bowls.
We especially love the silver paint and even more so the wired glass. This would have originally been on the rooftop of most likely an urban building as most nineteenth and early twentieth century row buildings had skylights.
